 ISO 7010 Signs
Following the adoption of ISO 7010 in 2011 within the UK, we are pleased to confirm that all signs on this website are now manufactured and supplied to this latest Standard. As a result you can be confident that you will only receive safety signs that meet the very latest legislation and best practice guidelines, when ordering from this website.
ISO 7010 specifies a range of symbols/ pictograms that should be displayed on commonly used safety signs. The main aim of ISO 7010 is to make these symbols/pictograms common on safety signs across the EU to ensure that a sign's meaning can be instantly recognised and understood, regardless of any accompanying text. Only graphical symbols with the highest comprehension credentials are considered acceptable.
Whilst the list of ISO 7010 symbols is not exhaustive it does cover most of the signs found on this website. Where a symbol has yet to be adopted into ISO 7010, but has proven comprehension levels under BS 5499, then we will continue to supply those signs to BS 5499 standards.
When ISO 7010 becomes a European Normative (EN), anyone purchasing safety signs will be required to ensure that they are compliant with EN 7010. By purchasing from ourselves you can be assured that your signs meet the latest standard.
Perhaps the biggest benefit of ISO 7010 can be found in Emergency Escape Route signs which will help ensure that an evacuee is progressed correctly through the escape route to a place of relative safety. As a result the old EC Directive (92/ 58/ EEC) signs will no longer be a valid option within your building and we strongly recommend that you replace signs displaying these symbols for the new ISO 7010 versions at your earliest opportunity. Unlike ISO 7010, these EC Directive signs have been found to cause some confusion amongst evacuees and have no comprehension credentials to validate their use as part of your safety way guidance
